Respectfully, I want to inform you of my intention to retire from my individual, couple and family counseling practice effective May 1, 2020.
My decision has been informed by a few personal factors that have been heavilyweighed and considered, and it does not come lightly. This rewarding profession and the therapeutic relationships inherently established have genuinely enriched my life for the past seven years. In all sincerity, it has been my privilege to sit with those who have graced my professional space with their presence, their stories and their willingness to
engage in the therapeutic process.
Until my retirement date, I plan to continue sessions with my existing clients to work toward closure and/or refer to my esteemed colleagues as necessary. Being a part of this group of practitioners has been an honor and I highly recommend each of them.
Please contact me if you have any questions firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
“Problems and obstacles offer a chance for reflection that otherwise would be precluded by the swift routine of life. As we stop to consider what is happening to us and what we’re made of, the soul ferments…Change takes place.”
Along with the joys and wonders of life, each of us carries our own load of struggles, sorrow and pain for they are inevitable. The good news is they do not define who we are. While difficulties can overwhelm our sense of well-being for a time, they also offer us a chance for reflection, growth and healing. As your therapist, I am privileged to accompany you as you make sense of your one-of-a-kind life story, where together we reflect on its meaning and purpose. My hope is your suffering softens and your joy becomes more abundant.
My Counseling Approach: Working with complementary therapy methods, I provide a uniquely tailored approach to meet the specific needs of each individual, couple or family I counsel. If you choose to meet with me, I will honor and respect you regardless of your situation in life. You, and what is important to you, are significant and worthy of attention.
My focus includes: depression, anxiety, grief, parenting support, premarital and couples counseling, loneliness and isolation, life transitions, spiritual concerns, gender dysphoria, and creating a life of purpose. Whether you are an individual wrestling with life’s circumstances, a couple looking to build or rebuild the foundations for a healthy relationship, or a family wanting to strengthen your connections with one another, I am grateful for the opportunity to walk with you as you uncover and heal issues, some of which may feel too intimidating to face alone.
Individual Counseling: Often we do not conenct the dots between what we think, how we feel and how we behave. We tend to compartmentalize. My desire is to help you make the connections between your internal and external world. You choose what is most important for you in the present moment while I hold you in warm regard within a calm space to sensitively explore your situation.
Premarital Counseling: I offer engaged couples 5 sessions for $300. Utilizing the Prepare/Enrich assessment, you will learn about each other’s strengths and areas of growth for your relationship. My goal is to help you construct and maintain a satisfying marriage.
Couples and Relationship Counseling: Over time, a relationship with a significant other may become stuck in well worn grooves of predictable patterns. Sometimes we can imagine the steps of our familiar dance with our partner before we initiate the first step. The good news is, with help and your commitment to invest in your relationship, there is hope for reconnection, for finding your footing in a new dance. My work with couples is informed by Dr. Sue Johnson (Emotionally Focused Therapy) and by Drs. John and Julie Gottman whose extensive research on relationship skills has contributed to identifying interactional patterns that are likely to foster more friendship and intimacy.
